The Bonneville Salt Flats

We’re back!  After two weeks of vacay from vacay, we are finally back on vacay!

A couple weeks ago, Seth flew from Denver to Cincinnati, Ohio to help a friend film a promo for his awesome cause.  (To see the video, scroll to the bottom of this post.) I went home to Grand Junction to do really fun stuff like file our taxes (big time bummer) and move the rest of our stuff to our friend’s (actually, you should be really happy you weren’t in on the last two weeks). I picked Seth up from his flight into Salt Lake City, and together, we drove out to California.

While driving through the western part of Utah, it’s pretty hard to miss the Bonneville Salt Flats; all of a sudden, you’d swear there was a huge, frozen lake in the middle of the desert. How could this be? We thought we’d pull over and investigate. We are also helping some friends of ours and their amazing outdoor apparel company by shooting a commercial; they specialize in winter gear, and as we are at the tail end of summer, it’s not exactly the time for snow.  However, the Salt Flats were perfect.

The salt is IMPOSSIBLE to get off.
That stuff doesn’t come off easily!  And definitely be careful when driving on the salt; there are places that are thick, and the sheriff informed us that some people get stuck.

Here’s the promo Seth did for our friend Troy of Hike for Our Heros.
