We finally made it through four states to Florida!
We left Lafayette, Lousiana around 10:00 am. We were going to leave around 6:00 am, but Seth pulled an all-nighter to write a song for a potential client’s commercial, so I wanted him to be able to catch a couple of zzzs. Let me tell you–it’s a long drive from Louisiana to Orlando, Florida. We ended up getting in at 2:00 am (Seth had slept all of maybe 30 minutes in the car to add to his several hours the night before), sleeping a couple of hours at our aunt’s house who lives in Orlando, and heading to Orlando International Airport at 6:00 am. Seth is flying to Washington DC for a commercial/documentary shoot, and he’ll fly back in to Tampa on the 18th for the Tonettes big performance! I hope Seth is doing ok as he’s probably had maybe seven hours of sleep total the last two nights.
Blah, blah, blah.
So, what did we find driving through “the south?” Lots and lots of Waffle Houses (who knew they loved their waffles so much). Swamps and thick foilage like you wouldn’t believe (especially for those of you on the Western Slope of Colorado–the desert). (We’re putting together a video update of our stay in Louisiana, so check back with us soon for that.) Also, when we were two hours out from our destination, we locked our keys in the car. Joy. Twenty minutes (and one bent up coat hanger) later, we were back on the road.
So, our count of how many times we’ve locked our keys in the car on this trip has begrudgingly ticked up to: 1.
Also, I’m learning that tiredness will make you do weird things. Besides the expected crankiness, I definitely drove up to someone’s house (that wasn’t our aunt’s), put her key in the door, and was surprised to find that the key didn’t open the front door. That’s when I realized I was actually down the street from our aunt’s house. Oops.
